dental procedures performed. Dr. Ciuffreda was honored to be named as one of the Top Dentists
in Monmouth County that other dentists would trust for their general, cosmetic, implant and
family dental care.
Reflecting on this honor, Dr. Ciuffreda stated, “I am most sincerely thankful for the confidence
and trust that my colleagues have expressed in me, and for my wonderful office team that shares

DR LEN CIUFFREDA, NJ TOP DENTIST BY MONMOUTH HEALTH & LIFE
It’s hard for me to believe, but this month marks my 20th year of dentistry. It seems like only yesterday!
After graduating from NYU College of Dentistry in 1995, the dental practice was originally opened in Freehold, New Jersey. After several great years there I had the opportunity to move Remarkable Grins to our current location in Manalapan. We see patients from all over New Jersey including Manalapan, Freehold, Old Bridge Marlboro and the surrounding areas.
Over the years there have been a number of exciting innovations in the field of dentistry. Our bonding agents and tooth colored filling materials have continued to improve. The newer porcelains are significantly stronger and wonderfully esthetic. Professional tooth whitening treatments offer great results with minimal to no sensitivity. Perhaps most significant is the progress made in dental implants that now have an extremely high success rate and enable us to provide patients with permanent crowns and bridges in situations where dentures would have been the only option.
I have had the privilege of providing dental care for a great number of long times, loyal patients; and I look forward to the next 20 years!
PROUD TO SERVE THE FREEHOLD, NJ AREA
Len Ciuffreda, DDS of Remarkable Grins is proud to be able to provide dental care for your family in the Freehold area. Our office in Manalapan is conveniently located north of the Freehold Mall and Movies property, and has received great reviews from our patients in the township and boro.
We have great fondness for the Freehold area, community and history. After graduation from NYU College of Dentistry, Dr. Ciuffreda originally opened his practice in Freehold on West Main Street. After several years there, the opportunity arose to relocate to a larger second floor office space with peaceful, wooded views that was only a short distance away from the original location.
He remains as one of the most sought after and professional dentists in Freehold area, New Jersey, and offers his services to locals looking for a nearby dental office near their Freehold homes.
Remarkable Grins has also piled up quite a lot when it comes to Freehold dentist reviews because of Dr. Ciuffreda’s dedication to his profession, and is paving the way for a bright future with the dental arts of Freehold.
We are thankful for our loyal patient base from our original Freehold location, as well as those in other nearby locations, such as Manalapan, Matawan, Oldbridge, Marlboro and surrounding areas in NJ, and we’ll always ensure that they keep their Remarkable Grin!
A REMARKABLY SAFE DENTAL OFFICE FROM EBOLA PART 2: STERILIZATION
In our last post, we discussed additional precautionary measures that Remarkable Grins has implemented in response the recent outbreak of the Ebola Virus based upon the history and facts of the disease.
Today, we will review the cornerstone of our infection control practices – namely the sterilization of dental instruments.
Our office is equipped with a state-of-the-art, automated autoclave that effectively sterilizes our dental instruments. Each individual pouch of instruments that are placed in the machine has an indicator to be sure that the autoclave has reached appropriate temperature. Most critically, every week our machine is validated through an independent testing laboratory to ensure that the autoclave is achieving sterilization. This is done by what is called spore testing, which is the industry standard for verification of sterilization.
Rest assured that this protocol for sterilization and monitoring of our autoclave has ALWAYS been our standard operating procedure.
The last thing on a dental patient’s mind should be concern over the cleanliness and sterilization of the equipment. Rest assured that Dr. Ciuffreda and his staff are committed to the highest levels of infection control so you can focus on your oral health and creating – or keeping – your remarkable grin.
A REMARKABLY SAFE DENTAL OFFICE FROM EBOLA
There has understandably been a great deal of concern regarding the recent outbreaks of the Ebola Virus as people are seeking facts about the disease, particularly its causes, symptoms and treatment. Equally important are considerations as to what can be done to protect ourselves and prevent exposure and spread.
Remarkable Grins of Manalapan, NJ has a strong history in meeting or exceeding ADA and CDC recommendations for sterilization and infection control.
In addition to our already stringent protocols, Dr. Len Ciuffreda has made sure that our office is at the forefront of protecting our patients with regard to Ebola and other contagious illnesses, such as the flu, by implementing additional safeguards above and beyond standard measures.
First and foremost, we are following the American Dental Association recommendations by asking our patients about their travel history, and delaying seeing anyone who has travelled to west Africa or has been in contact with someone who has for 21 days.
We also delay seeing patients for treatment who are exhibiting signs of illness, ;particularly fever. We have actually purchased the same professional touchless scanning thermometer that is being used by health officials at the airports to screen passengers. This way we can identify anyone we suspect of having a fever.
We have also placed dispensers of antibacterial gel and encourage our patients to use them as they arrive for their appointments.
In our next blog, we’ll continue to discuss how we at Remarkable Grins continually protect our patients health with our sterilization and infection control protocols that have been in place since our doors have opened.
We would love to care for your dental needs in our clean and safe environment. Give us a call today at 732-979-2090 to schedule your appointment today.
We wish you great dental health and a blessed day!
FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE TMD
Many of us have heard of various problems associated with TMJ, but not many know, or understand, what it really is. It is a disorder of the joints in the jaw that can affect the body in different ways and manifest into various symptoms. Many sufferers will spend years attempting to diagnose where their symptoms originate from.
It can be a long and exhaustive search recruiting many different disciplines who have no concrete answers to what is causing the pain. Often times those who are seen for this condition have exhausted all other avenues of medical cause. TMJ stands for temperomandibular joint. Although a joint which is associated with eating primarily, it can have substantial consequences for the entire body, referred pain to other places, and host symptoms which are nondescript and can leave a patient hunting for the origination for years.
TMD Problems: The Mystery
Patients who are experiencing TMJ disorders or TMD, and have exhausted other medical disciplines such as a neurologist or ENT are usually defeated and give up before the right diagnosis is made. They often begin their search due to symptoms such as headaches, ear congestion or ringing in the ears, vertigo, neck and shoulder pain and facial pain. If there is no other cause found, specific tests can identify the TMJ dysfunction as the culprit. These tests include:
In doing so there is an entire process that is captured, lending information about the stability of and the range of motion of the temperomandibular joint. When all the information is gathered, there is a clear picture of the structure of the jaw and how it operates. Indicating how wear, tear, and overuse of this joint is attributing to the symptoms the patient is having gives the physician an understanding of the best course of treatment to alleviate the symptoms of TMD.
The combination of the tests above give the clinician an overview of how the joint is operating, and aids in developing methods to treat any abnormalities which cause the disorder.
Why do people develop TMD?
There are many reasons why people develop TMD. A huge contributing factor is breathing through the mouth instead of the nose. The body was designed to breathe through the nose, but due to behaviors, one specifically, bottle feeding versus breast in children, many people ineffectively use their mouths primarily to breathe.
Other things leading to the dysfunction of the temperomandibular joint are mis-aligned bites. When the teeth do not meet perfectly, there is additional wear and tear on them during biting and chewing. Our bodies are experts in adaptation and thus are designed to accommodate for those imperfections, but over the span of a person’s life, the teeth can become settled in one way that can cause TMD.
When that happens: overbites, underbites, and other poor teeth mechanics, can affect the musculature around the jaw and lead to the damage that creates this condition.
